Reverie Harwood

Hi, my name is Reverie

I was born in Japan but due to forces outside of my control, I grew up in a white, southern Baptist, suburban family. I guess that’s why I’m interested alien cultures, belonging, and the definitions of home and family.

At the very start, I wanted to be a writer. I put it away for the more ‘legitimate’ pursuits in medicine, science, and engineering. I got a degree in biomedical engineering and worked for a decade in hospital operating rooms monitoring spinal cords and nerves during back and neck surgeries. I’ve got an opportunity to write again, and I’m desperately trying to make it my living. The operating room is very cold, and (hopefully, usually) not very exciting.

Why alien romance? I grew up on heavy doses of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Stargate SG-1, and Star Wars. Maybe I saw Avatar at an impressionable age. I guess it goes back to finding love and romance when constantly feeling out of place. I think no matter where in the galaxy we are, we can relate to that.

Safe travels, friend.
